When Yuma-kun joined Johnny's on October 2006, he formed the Kansai Johnny's Jr. Unit, Top Kids, along with two other kansai Jr, Kamiyama Tomohiro and Fujii Ryusei. In August 2007, after the creation of Hey! Say! 7, the three members of Top Kids joined with four other Kansai Jr. to make the group Hey! Say! 7 WEST, which acted as Hey! Say! 7's brother group from Kansai. The unit was later renamed Nakayama Yuma w/ Hey! Say! 7 WEST.

Yuma-kun debut when he was 15 years old, in June 4th 2009, with Johnny's Jr. group 'BI Shadow' - as Nakayama Yuma w/BI Shadow. On the same month of the year, it was also revealed that Yuma-kun will be joined by two Hey! Say! JUMP member, Ryosuke Yamada and Yuri Chinen to form a special group called NYC Boys. At first, this group was only a temporary one. However, the media announced that the group will be a permanent one on January 1th 2010.

So that's how Yuma-kun was involved with this four different groups. But then, Yuma-kun started his solo career in 2012 with his first solo single, Missing Piece.
